Small teams. Big picture.
For teams that already run ATAK, buy their own gear, and don't have a spare person to be the drone operator.
Civilian air support for your field.
Map the AO before step-off. Every player has it in ATAK.
- Fly the field before the game or between games, with the field owner's OK.
- A fresh map of the AO in every player's ATAK, not just the person holding the controller.
- Perimeter and route missions for boundaries, roads and approach lanes.
- Nobody pulled out of the game to fly.
Rules Flying at an advertised event (a game open to the public and promoted) needs a special flight certificate in Canada. Map the field before or between games, and don't hover low over players.
Know your ground.
Your land, routes and rally points, mapped and shared before you need them.
- Map your property, access roads and the routes between members.
- Mark rally points and resupply spots as pins the whole group sees.
- Planning and map building run on the phone with no cell signal.
- Check your own property after a storm, once the area is clear.
Rules Keep it on your own land or with the owner's permission, and never fly near an emergency scene: that airspace belongs to responders.
Your drone as a TAK contact.
Send a shape to "Vector" in ATAK and the drone flies it.
- Vector appears as a contact in ATAK. Task it like a teammate.
- Maps arrive as ATAK map layers; photos attach to the marker you sent.
- Works with a TAK server or on the phone itself.
- Meshtastic support for no-signal areas is on the roadmap.
Map the bush. Share it with the party.
Scout terrain from above before you walk it.
- Map a block of bush, a clearing or a trail network from camp.
- Route missions follow trails and logging roads out to a set distance.
- Everyone in the party gets the map in ATAK.
Rules Check your province's hunting rules before flying in season. Some restrict using aircraft, drones included, to locate wildlife.
Your whole property, mapped from your phone.
Fence lines, drainage and storm checks on the back forty.
- A current aerial map of your land whenever you want one.
- Perimeter missions to check fence lines in one flight.
- Compare maps by date to see what changed after a storm or a wet spring.
Terrain, teamwork, self-reliance.
TakVector maps ground. It isn't for watching or following people, and it isn't live video. The map arrives after each sortie, and Canadian drone and privacy law apply to every flight.
